The highest quality stainless steel we offer for some circlips, snap rings and spiral rings is PH 15-7 Mo, which offers high strength due to its precipitation-hardening properties. It also offers very good corrosion resistance, making it suitable for more demanding environments compared to standard grades.
In some cases we also offer AISI 316 grade, but these are often more suitable for hobby and general usage. 316 grade is usually cheaper than PH 15-7, but PH 15-7 offers much higher hardness, elasticity and similar corrosion resistance for most applications.
However, 316 stainless does excel in chloride rich environments. We suggest double checking your chemical resistance requirements against a chemical compatibility chart before selecting your preferred material. PH 15-7 is a popular choice in aerospace applications.
